At the Anicom Group, we have embeded the concept of “ani (life) + communication (mutual understanding) = ∞”, in our company name Anicom, and we espouse it as our Group Management Philosophy. This concept is based on our belief that, through mutual understanding between living creatures and their joint efforts towards a single goal, we can generate limitless value creation.
The Group Basic Policy on Human Rights is an expression of our responsibility to respect human rights based on this Group Management Philosophy. At the same time, as a company involved with animals, it supplements our policy on CSR activities with the mission of protecting and enhancing the “dignity of animals.”
Compliance with Laws, Regulations, and Other Rules Concerning Respect for Human Rights
In accordance with the Group Management Philosophy, the Group Code of Ethics, and the Group Basic Policy on Compliance, the Anicom Group shall comply with the human rights code set forth in the International Bill of Human Rights and the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work by the International Labour Organization (ILO), in addition to the laws of Japan concerning human rights and labor, in our dealings with all people affected by our business activities. We shall also support and practice the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
We shall also comply with the Act on Welfare and Management of Animals, which forms the foundation for respecting the dignity of animals.
Respect for Human Rights and Maintenance of the Dignity of Animals through Business Activities
- (1)Respect for human rights
At the Anicom Group, we shall respect the basic human rights of customers, Group officers and employees, and all other people.
・Prohibition of discrimination
We shall mutually respect diverse value perceptions, individuality, and privacy, and shall never tolerate discrimination or human rights violations for any reason, such as gender, age, occupation, nationality, race, sexual identity, disability, ideology, beliefs, religion, social status, or family background.
・Prohibition of harassment
We shall not tolerate any form of harassment, such as sexual harassment or power harassment.
・Handling of personal information
We shall obey the relevant laws and regulations, as well as the privacy policies established by each Group company, to avoid any violation of personal privacy. We shall exercise due caution in the management of customer information and other personal information, and shall never use this information for any purpose not necessary for business operations.
- (2)Maintenance of the dignity of animals
As a company involved with animals, the Anicom Group positions the “dignity of animals” at the core of the policy for its CSR activities, and has made an internal Declaration of Animal Dignity. The Declaration states that “all animals have dignity” and “no animal should be subject to abuse.” We shall implement specific initiatives such as animal welfare, disaster support, and wild animal protection based on the Declaration.
Internal Whistleblowing System
At the Anicom Group, we have established an internal whistleblowing system (hotline) with both internal and external contact points to resolve human rights issues such as sexual harassment and power harassment. Thus, we endeavor to create workplace environments that are more work-friendly for our officers and employees.
